Curiosities about Calendars
It is normal that curiosities exist in everything that is part of our history, and calendars are not going to be any different. I would like to mention some of them, such as the curiosities that affect:
1.- Lunar calendars. In some ancient cultures, such as the Chinese, Jewish and Islamic, calendars are governed by the moon instead of solar calendars, which is why the years have fewer days than the Gregorian calendar.
2.- Leap year. Did you know that the leap year of the Gregorian calendar is counted every four years to correct the deviation of approximately 0.002 years per year in relation to the solar year? Because it is very little, but the accumulation of lost days caused a gap between the astral moment in which Easter was to be celebrated and, in relation to it, the other liturgical festivals. And hence the readjustment that gave rise to the Gregorian Calendar.
3.- Gregorian calendar , used in most countries, was proposed by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 as a reform of the Julian calendar, to correct errors in the measurement of time.
4.- The Mayan calendar , this calendar has become famous for its precision in predicting solar and lunar eclipses with great accuracy.
5.- The 13-month calendar: In order to better divide the year, some people have proposed a 13-month calendar. The “Fixed International Calendar” consists of 13 months of 28 days each, and an additional day called “New Year’s Day” at the end of each one.
