Some of the most frequent questions our clients have are related directly to the type of customization of items intended for merchandising, which are the most suitable and the costs they may incur. We are going to try to resolve some of them.
First of all, we have to take into account that any type of customization technique can be applied to any item. For example: Customizing on bamboo is not the same as on silicone or cotton. The number of colors that can be applied also has an influence.
Serigraphy
It is a printing technique that consists of transferring an image through a mesh or plate to practically any article. It is almost a universal technique with some exceptions. As many transfer plates are prepared as there are colors in the image to be transferred.
Colors
The ideal surface for the printing should be porous, such as a cotton t-shirt, bamboo, polyester, wood, etc., so that several colours can be applied, since if the surface is completely smooth, the drying process of the paint would not allow a second colour to be applied immediately. It is necessary to make as many plates and clichés as the colours of the image.
Cost
The number of colours directly influences the cost, since for each colour we need a plate and a “machine setup” (preparing the machine with the new plate, adjustment and colours for the new printing).
We must take into account whether the item is darker than the customization, for example: printing white on black, we need to make a base layer to obtain optimal printing quality, that is, we print in two colors (the base layer is always white) which requires a new plate and "putting it on the machine".
It is ideal for making a large number of items, because once the plate is made and “put into the machine” we can personalize thousands of products with the same plate.
Types of Screen Printing
There are several types of screen printing depending on the item we want to personalize.
- Manual screen printing: to produce small quantities on any item.
- Semi-automatic screen printing: Used for larger quantities.
- Circular screen printing: used on bottles and cups
- Screen printing on umbrellas: due to the drying characteristic, as it does not allow the application of heat
- Automatic and textile screen printing: used to customize large quantities and various colors. This is what we know as “Octopus”
Special for
T-shirts , bottles , diaries , notebooks , umbrellas , chargers , fans , cups , etc., in short, it may be the most widely used technique today to personalize products intended for merchandising.
